British Library

Last weekend we explored London with our friend, Dave. We went to the British Library to see their Treasures Gallery. On display they have: the magna carta; Gutenberg's Bible of 1455; Leonardo da Vinci's notebook; Shakespeare's first folio; the world's earliest dated printed book; music written by Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, and Handel; manuscripts by Thomas Hardy, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, and Charlotte Bronte; handwritten lyrics from the Beatles, and a ton of other amazing books. It is a very impressive collection.

We went to Spitalfields Market for lunch and saw this cool vendor selling jewellery that is all made from circuit boards.

Then we headed over to Leadenhall Market which is where they filmed some of the scenes for Diagon Alley in Harry Potter. They were setting up Christmas decorations which gave it a really cool vibe.

We finished our day at the British Museum. Below is a photo of the Rosetta Stone.

My favourite exhibit in the British Museum is the Elgin Marbles (aka the Parthenon Marbles). Below is just part of the display as it covers a very large room.

Dave pointed out that we saw several original, and very old decrees of law. In the morning we saw the Magna Carta and in the afternoon we saw the Code of Hammurabi.

Below is a stone sculpture from Mexico dating from AD 600-900.
